Abundant Life is located at the beginning of a dead end road in Mooresville, NC. The demographic of that road has changed within the past year. We have had several Hispanic families move into the homes. A few months ago, a young Hispanic lady visited with her three young children. They didn’t speak English, yet came three weeks in a row. I knew that the communication barrier was there and began to pray about how to reach this family. Unfortunately, this family moved a few weeks later and my heart ached as I felt as though we didn’t truly help them.  I began to pray that God would give us wisdom on how to reach the Hispanic community on our road.

A few months later, the District Office asked Abundant Life to consider renting our facilities to a Hispanic congregation that was looking for a building. The property they were renting had been sold. They began praying for God’s provision as well. After talking and praying with the council and elders, we knew that this was an answer to prayer…for both congregations! My wife, Stasia, and I met with Pastors Luis and Sonia for lunch and God immediately knit our hearts together. We came up with a plan that would be a blessing to Iglesia Filadelfia and that would bless us as well. A covenant relationship was established!

On October 7th, shortly after those initial meetings, Iglesia Filadelfia began meeting in our facilities at 1 pm on Sundays. This immediately follows our second service. On Sunday, November 11th, we had already planned a Family Fall Gathering immediately after church for the Abundant Life congregation. We recognized the time conflict and asked Iglesia Filadelfia to join with us so that our two congregations could worship together and get to know each other. Our worship songs were in English and in Spanish. Pastor Sonia led a couple of the songs along side our worship leader. It was beautiful and the presence of God was very evident.

We got a small glimpse of different nations and tongues worshipping God together as it talks about in Revelation. After the service, the two churches continued together around the table for lunch and our hearts grew closer. We are two churches with the same goal of reaching our neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
